Adipurush {trans. The First Man} is an upcoming Indian Hindu mythological film based on the Ramayana. The film is directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles. The film, which is made simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, stars Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki and A Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. Made on a budget of ₹500 million, Adipurush is one of the most expensive Indian films of all time.

Premise
7000 years ago, King Raghava of Ayodhya travels to the island of Lanka to rescue his wife Janaki, who has been kidnapped by King Lankesh with the help of Hanuman’s army.

Production
Development Adipurush, an adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana, was unveiled through a promotional poster on 18 August 2020. Prabhas played the role of Lord Ram under the direction of Om Raut, who had previously directed the period action film Tanhaji (2020).[12]Om Raut was influenced by the 1992 Japanese film Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama and was inspired to adapt the epic Ramayana into a film using modern technology. Raut wrote the script amid India’s COVID-19 lockdown. Prabhas immediately liked the project and the production company T-Series Films was a part of the project.
Casting
In September 2020, the makers revealed that Prabhas is playing the role of Lord Rama whose character name was later revealed to be Raghava.[5] Saif Ali Khan who has already acted as Raut’s antagonist in Tanaji has been signed for the role of Ravana along with Lankesh.[13]
After rumors that Anushka Shetty, Anushka Sharma, Kiara Advani and Keerthy Suresh had been approached for the role of Sita, it was reported in November 2020 that Kriti Sanon had been cast to play the role; Her inclusion in the film was confirmed by the producers four months later in March 2021
Filming
Motion capture shooting for Adipurush began on 19 January 2021.The Muhurat shot and formal launch took place on 2 February 2021 in Mumbai, India.[17] Filming began that day, as reported by the makers.[18][19] On the same day, a massive fire broke out on set in Mumbai.[20] Duplicate sets were built in the same manner due to the fire.In October 2021, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sen completed shooting.[22] In November 2021, Prabhas also finished shooting.[23] On 10 November 2021, the entire shooting of the film was completed.[24]
